DPP is a Dorset based family company. We are located in a beautiful part of the country and would like to see it stay that way. With the onset of climate change we have taken a hard look at how we run our business and the greenhouse gas emissions attributed to our activities.
Our aim is reduce our carbon footprint as far as we can. We have always recycled pallets and most electrical equipment is turned off at night. New initiatives include recycling cardboard and paper. For the future our intention is to make an improvement each year, whether that is by cutting energy usage, using natural light to light the offices, moving to more economical lighting with better controls or installing solar panels or small scale CHP.
In addition DPP are pleased to be able support AeroThermal, an innovative Poole company, who are developing technology that will break down and reduce the volume of organic waste by approximately 60%. The resulting floc can then be further processed to produce methane gas for generating 'green' electricity. The remaining solid waste can be separated and almost all of it recycled. This secondary process not only has the potential to further reduce the amount of waste that needs to be diverted into landfill but actually adds value to it. Considering the amount of food waste thrown away by every household and many large businesses this is an exciting project. For more information visit the AeroThermal website.
